Men’s Cross-Country Posts Eighth Place Finish at MAC ChampionshipsSaturday, November 1, 2008  LANCASTER, PA - In their biggest meet of the season, the Albright College Men’s Cross-Country team endured through harsh terrain to record an overall finish of eighth at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship Meet in Lancaster, PA. A total of 14 teams competed in this year’s conference meet. Taking the top spot at the meet were the Falcons of Messiah College with a total of 27 points. The Falcons had six of their seven runners place in the top 10, with the seventh and final runner earned a 30th place finish. Messiah’s Francis Eanes took the individual top finish with a time of 26:52.36. Freshman George Cook (Brick, NJ/Brick Township Memorial) who has been a top finisher for the Lions came across the finish line in 51st place with a time of 30:17.68. Behind him was Spencer Shaak (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior) in 54th place. Shaak has also proven to be one of the team’s most consistent runners this season earning a time of 30:41.37. Robert Kellert (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) recorded the third best finish for Albright with a time of 31:03.46 (59th place). Dan Dalton (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) who has not competed in over a month due to injury returned to help his Lions finishing in 64th place (31:16.46). Eli Frey (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley Senior) closed out the top five trailing Dalton by only four seconds (31:20.24). Sophomore runner Jacob Goldberg (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) battled his way through the tough terrain to close out the day in 76th place with a time of 32:36.93. Jay Feitshans (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) was next in line to finish for the Red and White with a time of 33:11.34 (84th place). Donald Wonnie (Reading, PA/Wilson) put forth another great effort recording a time of 33:52.78. Anthony Carrozza (Reading, PA/Reading Senior) trailed Wonnie by only six seconds posting a 101st place finish. Chris Bollinger (Little Silver, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven) ended the day for the Men’s Cross-Country team. With a time of 38:47.52, Bollinger worked his way through the tough course. Men’s Cross-Country will return to action in two weeks when they take part in the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross-Country Regional meet. |
