HEAD COACH John Stuhltrager

John StuhltragerIn his fifth year as head coach of the Albright men's and women's swim teams, John Stuhltrager has helped establish Albright College as a power house in the Middle Atlantic Conference. For the fourth time in as many years, Stuhltrager was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year.

Both the men's and women's teams have thrived under Coach Stuhltrager's leadership. The teams have compiled a collective record of 67-9 in the past four seasons. In his first four years as coach, the men's team has won two MAC championship titles in 2004 and 2005, while the women's team managed three titles from 2005 to 2007. Neither the men's or women's teams have finished below second place while Stuhltrager has been head coach.

Along with the success as a team, there have been numerous individuals that have been recognized for their outstanding achievement. Albright has come home with five David B. Eavenson swimmer of the year awards and three rookie of the year awards during Stuhltrager's tenure. Three conference records have been broken by Albright swimmers since he became head coach in 2004. The team record board has been transformed under Stuhltrager's leadership, with 10 men's and 13 women's records being broken out 19 events.

Before arriving at Albright, Stuhltrager had a successful swimming background. He had an impressive collegiate career, swimming for both East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg. Excelling in fly and sprint events, Stuhltrager held shool records at both schools and was named to the PSCAC All-Conference team four years in a row.

Coaching has been a way of life for Stuhltrager since his days at Bloomsburg. He has over fifteen years of coaching experiencing with a wide variety of ability levels. Stuhltrager spent five years as a head coach at a YMCA, producing numerous district, state and national qualifiers. He also had success at the high school level as a co-head coach a Monsignor Bonner. Stuhltrager began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach with Albright in 2001. For two years he worked with Hall of Fame head coach Jenis Frederick. During his two years as an assistant the men's and women's team won a combined three MAC championship titles.

Stuhltrager and his wife Heidi live in Pottstown with their five year old daughter Morgan and their three year old son Branden.
