PHILANTHROPY
- The generous financial support by alumni, parents and friends in 2005-2006 made this a significant year in the College’s history. Thank you to the many donors who are contributing to Albright’s vitality and success.
- As Albright celebrated its Sesquicentennial and the inauguration of President Lex O. McMillan III, the College received $8.8 million in new gifts and pledges, surpassing the 2004 - 2005 record of $6 million by 46 percent.
- The College received a $4.75 million commitment, the largest in the College’s history, from Margaret “Peg” Schumo and her daughter, Cynthia Lynn, to create the Schumo Center for Fitness and Well-being, which will be completed in mid 2007.
- Crossing Boundaries: The Campaign for Albright, still in its quiet phase, climbed to $27.4 million.
- The Fund for Albright set another pace-setting year, raising more than $1.15 million for the operating budget. The Fund’s theme, "150 Years . . . 150 Reasons," honored the Sesquicentennial celebration and focused on 150 reasons to support the annual fund. The Fund’s phonathon program raised $339,353, a 171 percent increase over the previous year. The fall phonathon program alone raised $259,631, the highest phonathon total ever recorded at Albright.
- The new Senior Walkway Legacy Program made repaving walkways around Sylvan Pond the goal of the senior class gift. The program was very successful, with 43 percent of the class (126 donors) making a commitment. Seventy-two percent of donors (91 donors) pledged a gift of $100 or more to have their name engraved on pavers around the pond.
- The Class of 1956, Albright’s Centennial Class, celebrated its 50th reunion with a gift of $250,000, which included funding for the Class of 1956 Endowed Scholarship Fund.
