STUDENT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION of ALBRIGHT COLLEGE
Article I.
NAME

The name of this organization shall be the Lion Diplomats.

Article II. OBJECT
 

Section 1. To promote Albright College, its interests, goals and future among current students, alumni and friends.

Section 2. To instill within students the idea that their involvement with the college can and should be a lifetime commitment.

Section 3. To aid, assist and promote the Alumni office and other offices affiliated with institutional advancement.

Article III.

MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1. There shall be four (4) classes of membership:

    1. Student Member - any full-time student in at least their second semester may apply for membership through an application and interview process with the Executive Board.
    2. Alumni Member - all alumni who were active Lion Diplomats at the time of their graduation.
    3. Honorary Members - any member or previous member of the Albright community may be nominated for honorary membership. It shall require a three-fourths (3/4) approval of all voting members to elect an honorary member. Honorary members shall be used to honor these members of the Albright community who have made extraordinary contributions in the field of student-alumni relations.
    4. In-Active Members - any member who believes that he/she is unable to provide necessary commitment to the organization for a defined length of time agreed upon by the member and the Executive Board. It will then be the decision of the board as to whether in-active status or former member status is appropriate. To become an active member again, the member must submit a statement to the Executive Board explaining his/her commitment and the status must again be approved by the E-board. The E-board may also decide on the status of probation in which one loses all voting privileges and must be present at all meetings and activities.

Section 2. The student membership shall be unlimited in size.

Section 3. An active member may resign by submitting a letter of resignation to the Executive Board.

Section 4. Any member accumulating three (3) unexcused absences at meetings and/or workdays involving the entire student membership, or any required sub-committees shall be requested to make an explanation to the Executive Board if membership in the group is still desired. Excused absences include: intercollegiate sports, employment, class, illness, and/or family emergency.

Article IV.

VOTING PRIVILEGES

Voting privileges are awarded to all student members of the current term. Those alumni members who the Executive Board designates shall be awarded the same privileges as the student members.

Article V.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1. The officers shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Director of Alumni Relations.

Section 2. The officers, having served one year as a member, shall be elected by the student members in the spring term of each year on a date set by the Executive Board.

Section 3. The officers shall be elected by plurality of student members' votes.

Section 4. Duties:

    1. The duty of President shall be to preside at all meetings of the organization.
    2. The duty of the Vice-President shall be to take the place of the President whenever he/she cannot attend to the duties. The Vice-President shall be an ex-official member of all temporary committees.
    3. The duty of the Secretary shall be to keep the minutes and attendance records of all the meetings of the organizations and to attend to all correspondence.
    4. The duty of the Treasurer shall be to keep records of all financial transactions.
    5. The duty of the Historian shall be to assemble and maintain records of all organizational events as well as handle and organize all conference information.

Section 5. The term of office shall begin two (2) weeks before the close of Spring term.

Article VI.

MEETINGS

Section 1. Executive Board meetings shall be held weekly during the academic year at a time and place to be determined by the Executive Board.

Section 2. General meetings shall be held bi-weekly and at other times deemed necessary by the Executive board.

Section 3. Robert's Rule of Order shall govern the proceedings.

Article VII. COMMITTEES

The Executive Board will have the power to create, disband and determine membership of the Committees.

Article VIII. AMENDMENTS

Section 1. The constitution may be revised or amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the student membership provided prior notice of the amendment is given.

Section 2. Any amendment approved by the student membership must be submitted to the alumni Executive Committee.
