¡Arriba arriba!

Did you know that 6 bulls are killed at every bullfight. They, however, use every single part of the bulls body for something.

Ok this is the deal. I´ve been in Spain for about 12 days and there is no way I could tell you everything that has happened. I´m going to do it in an outline version because I don´t have a lot of time of the computer...let´s roll-

Went to Córdoba a couple days ago. The Mezquita is there as well as an Alcázar. The Mezquita is pretty famous and one of the most amazing things I´ve ever seen IN MY LIFE. It was bulit at first as an Islamic temple and then durnig the Reconquest it was converted into a Christian Church. The architecture and the atmosphere was amazing! It was a school trip so it was super organized so I really enjoyed it. The Alcázar on the other hand was a military fortress. My favorite part of the whole thing belive it or not was the bathrooms. It is incredible how they were able to have such functioning societies. They had cool water, warm, and hot in 3 different rooms. Isn´t that incredible. They also had fountains and the towns were completely irrigated. It just boggles my mind how they were able to do this.

About a block from school there is this GIANT Mezquita called La Catédral de Sevilla. It has a lot of Gothic influences. Completely amazing and I walk past it every day to school you definitely don´t get that in the United States.

Then this past weekend a couple of friends (Stacy Kellum, Natalie Bizzarro, and Jen-all from Albright) and a bunch of people I¨ve met from school went to Cádiz. We took the train which is like a 5 minutes walk from our house. The train ride was like 2 hours it wasn´t bad. It is in a very Southern part of Spain I loved it. It´s ALLL beaches. Apparently it´s super windy there, but we really really really lucked out. I had a blast.

Alright well that´s a bit of a recap of the highlights so far. You may have gotten the hint that Spain was a little difficult in the beginning...it is now amazing. My roommate and I were in a house that was not the greatest. We got our housing assignment changed and we´re now with a young couple who are absolutely fantastic! They are soo compassionate and are very pacient with our Spanish...especially mine haha. They´ve had a bunch of students from all over the world stay with them so they know the drill pretty well.

Alright that´s it for now! Hope everyone is having an amazing summer! ¡Hasta luego!

God Bless!

I´m in Spain!

Did you know that Christopher Columbus was born in Malaga which is in the Province of Andalucia?

Ok hello everyone! This is going to have to be a short entry because I do not have a lot of time of the computer. As many of you know I am in Spain studying for a month in Sevilla. Sevilla is in the Southern part of Spain in Andalucia. So far so good. I was unbelievably jet lagged for awhile. I´m starting to catch up now. The plane ride is sooooo long. I did not enjoy that part at all. I am here with Natalie Bizzarro, who plays basketball with me, and 3 other people from Albright. I love Sevilla, I´m just having a hard time adjusting to the food and the sleeping. It is a completely different culture. Yesterday was the first day of class. I´m taking a class about the History of Spain and the culture of Spain. It is fantastic and really interesting. I´m taking lots of pictures, so when I get home I will definitely post them. I´m getting a new housing assignment because my house is not working out that well, so hopefully when I get that things will be better. I´ll keep you posted.

Spain is known for their Tapas, which is appetizers in english, they are WONDERFUL! They cook pretty much everything in olive oil so it´s pretty good for you too! I´m on break now and then we´re going on a trip to see a palace. I¨ll keep you posted. It is weird writing this in English because I have heard and read nothing but Spanish while being here. My mind is in complete overload.

The 411 recap of the trip so far....Spain is amazing, this is an opportunity of a lifetime, didn´t realize I´d actually have to adjust, and I´m trying to take it all in, but it´s difficult.

Loving Spain!

God Bless!
