Two weeks in.....
The first two weeks of classes are just about in the books here at Albright. Students are getting comfortable with their schedules and our new students are no longer looking like ‘freshman’. You cannot tell the difference between new Albrightians and returning students.
The first weeks of classes bring excitement and trepidation. I participated in a presentation at a high school on the Mainline last week and gave this piece of advise to students concerning going away for college: “Prior to being dropped off tell you family under no circumstances are they to come and pick you up from school because you are uncomfortable, scared or homesick!” You will work through this. Everyone goes through it. I did eighteen years ago and so do thousands of students every year.
Albright is full of life right now. Move in day was great: http://www.albright.edu/movein2006.html. I took my daughter to a field hockey game on Wednesday: http://www.albright.edu/athletics/news_items/field_hockey/2006/gamestories.html. Today is the College’s Wellness Fair and tomorrow is the first football game.
I hit the road on Wednesday, visiting schools in Delaware. I hope to see you at your high school in the near future. I usually only travel in Berks and Montgomery Counties of Pennsylvania, but I’m filling in a little in Delaware next week.
