Mondays in 2006 are no different.

Boy it is great to be back…………kind of. Love my job, but quality time with the family and sleeping in a little is great too.

Was having a really tough Monday morning. You know, trouble getting out of bed, sluggish, tired, no motivation. Then I picked up an application and was amazed. I read an application from a student who was born in Romania, moved to Canada and then the U.S. He speaks three languages, is in his National Honor Society, plays in the band and has taken eight AP classes!!!!!!!!! Not only that, his essay was outstanding! I know I’ve said this in past posts, but I am amazed by many of our applicants, and this student was no exception.

But one great application can only pick you up so much. By late afternoon I was back slumped over my desk. Late afternoon is when I start making phone calls to students. We like to congratulate students after making admission decisions. I talk to a lot of voicemails when making these calls, but yesterday I hit most of the students and talked to two young ladies that screamed “YAHOO!” when I informed them of their offer of admission. Those calls are great! I am excited when students are excited about Albright and even happier to be the person communicating good news. Remember only 60% of student go to their first choice college, so it is a thrill to be the person telling you that you’ve been admitted to your first choice.

Happy New Year!
