Motivation

What drives me each day is the opportunity to explore with students a potential plan for success. For many students, their collegiate career has been one that hasn’t allowed them to solely focus just on education. Their college experience has been balanced between working, raising a family, as well as other responsibilities adult learners have. My job is to show them that opportunities exist where family, education, and employment can be balanced.

I love hearing why people are interested in getting their bachelor’s degrees at Albright College. The most common responses are employment related or because I want to earn more money. Increasingly, I am hearing that people want to complete their degree because they want a sense of self-fulfillment. The potential for increases in salary and job responsibilities can still be achieved, but the desire to be education is one that resonates with me.

Advice for a Prospective Adult Student Looking to Return to School

Now it is your turn... What I mean by this is that many of our students—for all of their lives—have put others who they care about first. Children, spouses, parents, family and friends have always come before them. Take this opportunity to be somewhat selfish, because your education will help those listed above!

Favorite Accelerated Degree Program Memory

I remember meeting with a prospective student who told me, “I want this degree to show my granddaughter that it Pop-Pop can do it now, she has no excuse to go to college right after high school.”
