ENG 010/011 American English Use and Practice
The purpose of these courses in English as a Second Language (ESL) is to prepare
the non-native student to express her/himself in and to understand the expression of
colloquial English.
ENG 050 Basic Writing Skills
Intensive reviews of basic skills and the fundamentals of expository prose. A prerequisite to English 101 for some students. Enrollment is by assignment only. This course must be taken on a letter-grade basis, but course credit does not count toward graduation requirements.
ENG 101 Composition
A study of the fundamentals of effective written expression, with emphasis upon student writing. Required of first-year students who need the advantage of greater competency in writing skills.
ENG 102 Writing About Literature
A course designed to improve writing skills, to stimulate an appreciation of the various literary genres, and to demonstrate the relationship of reading and writing. Assignments and projects will provide the foundations for critical analysis.
