Eligibility to Study Abroad:
Students wishing to study abroad or off-campus in a domestic program may do so upon completion of two full-time semesters of matriculation. This means students may study abroad as early as the summer between the first and second year at Albright. International Interim courses during the first year are an exception to this policy. Most Albright College students study abroad during their sophomore or junior year. Seniors may study abroad during their fall semester only.
Students interested in studying abroad must be in good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 / 4.0, in good financial standing and in good social standing.
Getting Started:
You may call the office or drop by to meet with the director, Kim Justeson, or one of the student advisors whether you are merely exploring the idea of studying off campus or already have a good idea of where you want to go. The meeting will help you clarify your educational needs and personal preferences. Our office houses an extensive library of resources and we can help you find the perfect program. We are located in the Center for Experiential Learning and Research (CELAR) on Linden Street between the Multifaith Center and Public Safety. You can stop in or schedule an appointment to meet with one of us by calling 610-929-6739 or emailing us at studyabroad@alb.edu.
Whether you are meeting with the Student Advisors or the Director, you need not know where or when you want to study. The meeting will help you clarify your educational needs and personal preferences. The Preliminary Questionnaire form (PDF, 700k) was designed to help with this process and is available in the Study Abroad Center and online. (If you need the free Acrobat Reader to view them, click here.)
Albright College Study Abroad Application:
A student desiring to study abroad or off-campus must complete an Albright College application by the appropriate deadline date. For Interim and spring terms, the deadline is typically October 31st and for summer and fall terms, the deadline is typically March 31st. Please contact the office to confirm the deadline for the current semester. This application is separate from the application for your international or domestic program.
The application (PDF, 88k) is available in the Study Abroad Center and online. Meeting with the staff of the Center will assist you in understanding the procedures for completing the form and applying to study abroad or off-campus. Approval is granted only by the Provost / Vice President of Academic Affairs of the College following a review of your eligibility.
